Non-stop to Corsica: Germania launches Dresden-Bastia flights

Now you can fly non-stop to Bastia for the first time in the history of Dresden Airport. A green-and-white Germania plane departed for the French port city on Saturday 19 May.

Until the end of October, the airline will be flying to Corsica at 07:50 every Saturday and back to Dresden at 10:30 the same day. The journey time is just under 2 hours. To mark the maiden flight, the airport fire service gave it the traditional water fountain send-off and the crew members were presented with flowers and small gifts.

Markus Kopp, CEO of Mitteldeutscher Flughafen AG and General Manager of Flughafen Dresden GmbH:
“We have a choice of more than 40 destinations in our summer timetable – a record compared with previous years. In Bastia in Corsica, the fourth largest island in the Mediterranean, we now have another attractive holiday destination that has never been serviced from Dresden before. This port city is now quick and easy to reach with Germania. Up to 71 tourist flights a week are taking off from Dresden this summer. That is a significant rise on last summer’s 53.”

Bastia – Corsica’s business centre
Bastia lies on the north-eastern coast of Corsica at the foot of the Pigno mountain and is also a business centre, being home to the island’s largest port. The city is the ideal base for excursions into the mountains and also offers plenty of opportunities for water sports and diving. Immediately opposite the ferry port is Place Saint-Nicolas, where visitors can sit and relax in the cafés and restaurants and watch the ships come in. To the south lies the old town, Terra Vecchia, with its market square and steep alleys dotted with pretty little shops, bars and restaurants. Bastia’s most impressive baroque building, the church of Saint John the Baptist, is definitely worth a visit.
Tickets for flights from Dresden to Bastia start at €69 one way and can be booked online at, by phone on +49 (0)30 610 818 000 (standard call rate from German landlines, mobile tariffs may differ) and at any travel agency. All prices quoted include taxes and charges and the statutory German air travel levy. Since January this year, Germania has been offering low-cost Rail&Fly tickets for the journey to and from the airport in collaboration with Deutsche Bahn.

Other new Germania flights from Dresden
Germania’s 2018 summer timetable features flights to a total of 21 destinations. New from Dresden are St. Petersburg (since 26 April), Barcelona and Thessaloniki (both since 1 May), Monastir (since 2 May), Athens (since 4 May) and Burgas (from 27 June).
