Winter timetable: new sunshine destinations from Leipzig/Halle and Dresden

Leipzig/Halle and Dresden airports in central Germany switch to their winter timetables on Sunday 29 October, offering a total of 350 departures per week to 34 cities and holiday resorts in 16 countries. New from Leipzig/Halle will be flights to Dubai, Malta and Luxor on behalf of the travel operator FTI. The new winter destinations from Dresden are Sharm el Sheikh and Faro.

From Leipzig/Halle: up to 177 departures per week to 28 destinations in 14 countries

There will be non-stop flights to five domestic destinations from Leipzig/Halle. Lufthansa flies to Frankfurt (up to 5x daily) and Munich (up to 4x daily). Eurowings will head to Düsseldorf (up to 3x daily) and to Cologne Bonn and Stuttgart (up to 2x daily each).

European city destinations will include Vienna with Austrian Airlines (up to 2x daily), Istanbul with Turkish Airlines (5x weekly), Zurich with SWISS (5x weekly), London Stansted with Ryanair (3x weekly) and Moscow Domodedovo with Rusline (3x weekly).

A wide range of holiday flights will be available to Spain (Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Lanzarote, Majorca, Tenerife), Egypt (Hurghada, Luxor, Marsa Alam, Sharm el Sheikh), Morocco (Agadir, Marrakesh), Tunisia (Djerba, Monastir), Turkey (Antalya, Istanbul), Portugal (Madeira), Greece (Crete), United Arab Emirates (Dubai) and Malta.

New in the timetable will be flights to Dubai with Condor on behalf of the travel operator FTI. The non-stop flights to the Emirate in the Persian Gulf will leave on Wednesdays and take around six hours. The aircraft used on these flights will be Boeing 757-300s, seating up to 275 passengers.

Also for FTI, Small Planet Airlines and Fly Egypt will run weekly flights to Malta and Luxor respectively, using Airbus A320s.

From Dresden: up to 168 departures per week to 21 destinations in 9 countries

Flights to five German cities will be available from Dresden Airport. Lufthansa will operate up to five flights a day between Dresden and the Frankfurt and Munich hub airports, while its subsidiary Eurowings will link the Dresden region with its hub airports Düsseldorf (up to 4x daily), Cologne Bonn (up to 3x daily) and Stuttgart (up to 2x daily).

Saxony’s capital city also boasts excellent connections to other major European hub airports. There will be daily flights to Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow with Aeroflot and to Schiphol Airport in Amsterdam with KLM. Lufthansa subsidiary SWISS will fly to Zurich up to 2x daily, and easyJet will operate up to four weekly flights to another Swiss city, Basel.

Numerous charter carriers will fly from Dresden to Majorca, Antalya, Madeira, Egypt (Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh) and the Canary Islands (Gran Canaria, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, Tenerife). Other resort destinations are Faro, Malaga and Paphos.

Germania will fly to the new Destination Sharm el Sheikh on the Red Sea every Monday. Flights to Faro in Portugal, which were launched by Germania at the start of the summer season 2017, will be starting much earlier in 2018, namely in mid-February.

Two hours of free WiFi

Passengers and visitors to both airports can now get free WiFi for up to two hours. WiFi is available in terminals A and B at Leipzig/Halle Airport and throughout the whole terminal building at Dresden Airport.
