Skating fun at Dresden Airport

Following last year’s premiere, the second edition of our skating event Airport on Ice takes place in October. By popular demand, the 200 m² artificial ice rink is moving to a central location in the terminal and is being installed on the conference level. From 2 to 31 October, ice skating fans of all ages can come along and practise their skating skills in preparation for the winter season or simply have fun on the ‘ice’! Skates will be available for hire. Or test your curling skills on our 20 metre ice stock rink. One floor up from there – on the visitor platform – you can watch aircraft taking off and landing. To coincide with Airport on Ice, the airport’s Customer Services department is organising a fun programme of events including school holiday tours, kids birthday parties, ice skating training, our annual Vintage market and Halloween on Ice.

On 3 October, why not combine your skating session with a visit to our art, antique and vintage market. Admission is free. This family event in the terminal (10:00-18:00) will also feature a toy and model railway fair, a jumble sale with children’s items, harp concerts and fascinating tours of the fire station and the weather station (booking is essential; admission charges apply).

The ice rink is available for booking for High Flyer Birthday Parties between 4 and 30 October. Flat rate for up to 15 people: €225 (including ice skating, skate hire, guided tour, crafts, table football, drinks, snacks and cakes).

At Kids on Ice on the weekend of 21/22 October, ice skating trainer Patricia Kühne will be sharing tips and tricks on how to skate confidently and safely over the ice (12:00-17:00). A snowman and ice princesses will be dropping by at the terminal on the Saturday and will be happy to pose for selfies (13:00-16:00). Our ice skating event concludes on 31 October with Halloween on Ice, featuring ghoulish face painting and seasonal arts and crafts.
