Environmental principles

As an intermodal infrastructure hub, Dresden Airport works to provide an efficient link between the Dresden region and the airline network to meet the needs of local travellers. Protecting the environment is high on the agenda in our day-to-day operations and planning. In particular, we have put a wide range of measures in place to minimise the negative effects of aviation as far as possible.
At Flughafen Dresden GmbH we are fully aware of the responsibility we bear towards the environment, so we operate according to the following principles:

1. We are always open to the needs of the environment.
We aim to protect and conserve the environment and our life-sustaining natural resources for the benefit of the generations of today and tomorrow. So we regard environmental protection as a process of ongoing improvement and use natural resources sparingly. We are always on the look-out for new ways of reducing the impact we have on our air and water, protecting the soil, avoiding waste and cutting our energy consumption.

2. We abide by the law.
It goes without saying that we comply fully with the statutory environmental regulations. As an environmentally aware company, we strive to reduce the pollution associated with operating an airport even further than we are required to by law wherever it is possible and economically viable for us to do so.
All plans and new investments are subjected to strict environmental impact assessment, and we are always careful to select the most efficient technologies.

3. We encourage our employees to be environmentally aware.
Flughafen Dresden GmbH actively engenders a culture of environmental awareness among its employees. We encourage our people to act in an environmentally sound way, make careful use of resources and work constructively on further improving environmental protection.

4. We take the interests of local people and organisations on board.
We regularly inform the public about our environmental impact and our efforts to protect the environment. We seek open, objective and critical dialogue with authorities, our neighbours and the general public.
