Check-in
The 24 check-in counters and the check-in kiosks are located on the Departures level in the terminal. For holiday flights and long-haul flights, we recommend that you check in about two hours before your departure time. Check-in closes 45 minutes before departure for domestic flights and non-stop European scheduled flights, and 60 minutes before departure for holiday flights.
Your travel agent or your airline will tell you exactly when you need to check in. Your flight details including the airline, flight number, destination and departure time are also displayed on the monitors above the check-in counters.
Please check with your airline about excess baggage charges before you fly if you want to take more than 20 kilograms of baggage with you.
Online check-in, seat reservation
For many routes you can select your seat online and print out your own boarding card. Please note that this service is offered by the airlines themselves and is beyond the control of Dresden Airport.
- Lufthansa Online check-in
- Air Berlin Web check-in
- Germanwings Web check-in
- Hamburg International seat reservation (in German)
Evening-before check-in
Checking in the evening before eliminates waiting time and stress on the day: your seat will already be reserved. You can arrive at the airport at least 60 minutes before departure and go straight to the security checks and into the departure lounge.
Evening-before check-in is available from 18:00 to 21:00 at designated counters on the Departures level in the terminal. You will need your passport or ID card and your air ticket. When you have handed in your baggage, you will be given a baggage ticket and your boarding card.
The following airlines currently offer this service:
- Air Berlin: for all departures the next day
- Lufthansa: for departures before 09:30 the next day
- Sky Airlines: for departures before 12:00 the next day
- Sun Express: for departures before 12:00 the next day
Outsize items of baggage will only be accepted at the above times on the evening before the flight by airlines who offer evening-before check-in. All other airlines will only accept outsize items of baggage on the day of departure.
Self-check-in
CUSS (Common Use Self Service) kiosks are now available on the Departures level in the terminal (under the large display boards). Passengers travelling on Air Berlin, Austrian, Cirrus, Germanwings, Lufthansa and Swiss can check in here.
The kiosks are simple to use: after selecting your airline logo, you are taken to the airline’s check-in menu where you will be asked to identify yourself with a credit card, an identity document or a booking code. Your boarding pass will be printed out and you can proceed straight to security with your hand baggage.
The CUSS kiosks are open 24 hours a day. The screen menus can be displayed in either English or German. Self-check-in is usually available up to 24 hours before the flight departure time.
